In bringing Casa Fuzetta back to life, we trusted our intuition, kept to a simple backdrop of natural tones and materials, and then added layers of old family pieces and auction room finds (often painted white). The aim was to create a space in which guests would feel welcome and at ease from the moment they walk through the door.

What we hadn’t anticipated is the ever-growing community of artists, artisans and incredible creatives that has come into our lives. Several are female founders of ethical brands championing a drive to greater sustainability. Common threads that weave between us include a love of beauty, simplicity and generosity, mixed with an eclectic spirit of independence.

In 2004, my husband, Jonathan Tod took his first tentative steps on a journey of spiritual awakening. Within a couple of years, this became more than a passing curiosity but a lifelong path of learning.

In 2010, he set out to share some of the simple truths he was discovering, in the hope that it might inspire others to start their own explorations.

Whilst it may never be a best seller, this book will always take pride of place at Casa Fuzetta, and I am delighted to share it with you here.

With a foreword by Jonathan’s great friend Michael Baigent, one of the authors of the iconic “Holy Blood & the Holy Grail” first published in 1983.

Jonathan and friends have started to lead retreats and pilgrimages at Casa Fuzetta and around Portugal, exploring the beauty of this incredible country and connecting with the energy in key points of the landscape. Following a pause, due to Covid, the retreats and pilgrimages are back up and running again. If you follow us on instagram, you will find glimpses of our adventures in our reels and stories.
